christian music
as you may or may not have noticed, my brother and i don’t really see eye to eye on… anything. well one of the tings we don’t see eye to eye on is music.
first of all, he thinks i’m closed mined. he thinks that, because i’m a christian, and i believe that jesus is the only way, i’m closed minded. he doesn’t think that there is one "right" religion. that there may be other ways to eternal life besides jesus. i’m not closed minded, i understand many of the other religions. i mean seriously, i understand mormonism and judaism, and islamic and buhdist, i even understand rastafarian(ism?) -thank you, wikipedia.
any ways, just because i believe that jesus is the only way to live eternal life in heaven, does NOT mean i’m closed minded, it means i’m slective. i’ve chosen (what i think is) the best. it just so happens to be the one my parents taught me.
the point i’m trying to get to is that he says he doesn’t like christian music. he’s a music major so he likes classical music, like beethoven and the likes, but i remember a couple of years ago when he was listening to green day and pink floyd and that band where the music videos are cartoons, and stuff like that.
well, naturally my mom was upset that he was listening to music with swear words in it. his argument was "i don’t listen to the lyrics, i just listen to the music and the melody."
ok fine. then why don’t you like christian music? it really is the same as EVERY OTHER KIND OF MUSIC. any kind of music you like, they have a christian version. i’m serious, even heavy metal. (granted, it’s pretty hard to take christian rap seriously, but that’s not the point because he doesn’t even think rap IS music)
i’m not trying to say he’s not a christian, i don’t know. i just don’t know how a person can say they don’t like christian music when "christian" is NOT a genre, it’s a theme. christian music can fit into any genre.
non-christians manage to like switchfoot and skillet and flyleaf. are they closed minded too?
