what not to wear
so i was watching "What Not to Wear" the other day and i can’t decide if i like that show or not. the girl on there was eighteen and heading to college and she dressed like one of those goths, with the pink hair and animal print socks and too many bracelets. her main problem with the outfits stacy and clinton picked were that "they look like everybody else." and i was thinking, these guys take unique people, tell them how ridiculous they look, and then conform them.
but is that a bad thing? people are judged by their appearence weather they like it or not, and i’m sure that putting a stop to this whole goth thing can really only help that 18 year old girl on her way to college. she says that her clothes are a way of expressing herself and they show her personality. so if she takes them off and puts on trendy clothes, doesn’t she still have the same personality anymore?
i guess the point of the show is that if you dress nice, people will have good opinions of you before they even know you. If your personality is more then just skin deep, it doesn’t matter what clothes you wear so you might as well look nice.
